Thank you for visiting The Leather Adventure! I’m Anélle Human – let me tell you how it all began.
My leather adventure started in the nineties when I worked at Excelsior Leather in Rustenburg during varsity holidays. I learned how to manufacture belts, school bags, handbags, pilot cases, pony saddles, to name but a few. As well as to do repairs to leather products.
After my studies I joined the South African Air Force as an Environmental Officer and leather work became primarily a hobby. I did a course at the South African Leather Academy and that’s where the corner stone for Leather Adventure was laid.
The Leather Adventure was finally born in 2010 and soon after I left the military my journey as a full time Leather Smith began!
My speciality is hand stitched leather products which are manufactured to order, as I like to create special yet functional items, as well as the odd classic restoration. These days I occasionally make use of machines for certain jobs that require them.
I love every second in my workshop, obviously there are trying times, but 99.9% of the time it’s my fun place where the magic happens. There’s nothing better than to see the appreciation and awe when a client receives that special order, or a student finished their very first product!
Although my workshop is in Centurion, South Africa – my products have made their way to Scotland, Bulgaria, USA, Saudi Arabia and Botswana.
